Brief Vita

Historical Background

This might go all the way back to the pioneer's childhood. Try to capture the essence of how the world was before the pioneer began to do his or her pioneering work. Pay particular attention to the levels of Information and Communication Technology, and their use in education, at the time.

Major Pioneering Efforts and Contributions

Jasper project, anchored instruction, and related research.

Up Close and Personal

Stories about the pioneer. These can be contributed by many different authors. Try to flesh out the pioneer as a person and his or her contributions as part of the overall human endeavor of developing the field of ICT in education.

Autobiographic Materials

Try to locate autobiographic material. Include a summary of important parts as well as a reference.

Interview

If the pioneer is not deceased, try to gather interview information via face to face meeting, phone, or email. Here are three sample interview questions:

Q. Looking back over your pioneering activities, which do you feel best about? What is your legacy?
Q. Drawing upon your years of experience and accumulated wisdom, what do you think are some of the very best ways to improve our current informal and formal educational systems?
Q. What else do you want to say to today's students, teachers, parents, and other people?

References

This includes references to sources of information about the pioneer as well as references to some of the published works or and other activities of the pioneer. It is appropriate (indeed, desirable) to include brief annotations of the references. Make sure you do a comprehensive web search for information about the person. Include references for the links that you feel are important.

John Bransford is an internationally renowned scholar in cognition and technology. He joined the University of Washington in Seattle in 2003 where he holds the title of the James W. Mifflin University Professorship and Professor of Education. Prior to this time he was Centennial Professor of Psychology and Education and Co-Director of the Learning Technology Center at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Bransford served as co-chair of several National Academy of Science committees that wrote How People Learn: Brain, Mind, Experience and School (1999) and How People Learn, Bridging Research and Practice (1999). He is currently serving as Co-Chair of the National Academy of Science and National Academy of Education Committees and on the International Board of Advisors for Microsoft's Technology and Learning program.
