The following is quoted from an email message sent to the ISTE SIGTE Discussion List:
- With the increase in online education, especially at the K12 level, we're very interested in what virtual teachers tell us they need to know...what unique needs and challenges they have that they never received training on in their preservice program. In our last Going Virtual! study, for example, one of the highest reported needs among first year K12 online teachers is isolation--from other teachers, as well as their students. By providing teachers training in effective use of various communication technologies, as well as creating online professional learning communities, isolation becomes much less of an issue. This is just one example of what we're learning from this new breed of teacher. Here are our reports to-date if you'd like to learn more:
