I find it interesting that a number of introductory computer in education courses for preservice teachers still spend quite a bit of their time teaching the computer tools that ISTE feels students should have learned by the end of the fifth grade.
This situation suggests that many teacher education courses are unwilling to set appropriate prerequisites for such a course.
