The Math Methods page has been getting quite a few hits. However, this Discussion page has not. In addition, the number of hits is a drop in a bucket when compared to the number of preservice elementary school teachers.
My estimate is that in the United States each year approximately 125,000 preservice elementary teachers are enrolled in a Math Methods course. Probably well over a thousand teachers of teachers are involved in teaching these courses.
The knowledge, skills, and experience of this large number of teachers is a valuable resource. Math education can be improved by more sharing among this group.
The 125,000 or so preservice elementary school teachers are an ideal target for the Digital Filking Cabinet project. Each of these preservice teachers can benefit by starting to systematically collect materials that will support their current and learning and teaching.
