More and more, our world is becoming a world of "sound bites" and "video bites." Today's precollege (and many of today's college students) have grown up in this world of attention-grabbing sound and video bites.
There is a large difference between this "tidbit" approach to the world and the in depth education we want our students to be obtaining. However, with appropriate planning, many teachers can strike a compromise position in which a class period includes some of the sound and video bites, followed by small group and/or whole class discussion and debriefing.
