When I first encountered a TED video, I was "blown away." One of my favorite styles of teaching or doing a workshop is to show a short segment (typically, less than five minutes) from a video, and then engage the class or workshop participants in a discussion about what they have just seen.
The TED videos are mainly aimed at the people who are advancing the frontiers, such as those who pay big money to attend the TED conference. Thus, it takes some thinking and repurposing to get a typical TED video to fit into a class or workshop teaching environment. However, it is well worth the effort.
